$ 15,000 engagement ring missing from desk drawer, Montclair police say
A woman said she placed her engagement ring valued at $ 15,000 in an office drawer while working on Park Street, police said.
When he returned, the ring was no longer there. It has been described as a white gold engagement ring with diamonds.
Montclair Police reported the following other incidents in their weekly police diary:
Wednesday, July 28 – The manager of a building in Roosevelt Place reported that someone attempted to open several storage lockers in the building’s basement. Some of the lockers were observed to be open. At the time of the report, it was not known if anything was missing.
Thursday, July 29 – The owner of a 2020 Honda Pilot reported that his vehicle on South Fullerton Avenue had been entered and his bracelet and wallet had been removed.
Friday, July 30 – A resident of Orange Road reported that two packages of blinds that had been delivered by FedEx were stolen from his porch. They were valued at $ 7,000.
Saturday, July 31 – A man reported that his 2019 Cannondale CAADX 105SE 56cm road bike was stolen from a storage area under his steps on Pine Street. The incident reportedly took place overnight between July 30 and July 31.
Saturday, July 31 – Someone reported that their bike was stolen outside their home on Union Street. The 2021 Moss Green Escape 3L, valued at $ 550, was locked to a street sign.
Sunday, August 1 – Someone reported that after movers helped her out of her Pine Street apartment, her iPhone 11 Pro and Airpods were missing.
Criminal mischief / assault
Monday August 2 – Agents responded to the Montclair video store on Bloomfield Avenue regarding a dispute. An employee reported that an unknown person entered the company twice, requesting wrapping papers. When told that the store did not sell them, the person became enraged and knocked over a display case with goods. The case hit the ground and broke apart. The employee suffered cuts to his hands but refused medical treatment. The person was described as a male, around 20 to 30 years old, 6 feet tall with a slim build, dark eyes and dreadlocks.
Sunday August 1 – A 27-year-old man from Montclair has been charged with impaired driving following a motor vehicle stop on Christopher Street.
