All Star Musicals returns to ITV with host John Barrowman (ITV)
The ultimate musical comedy showdown is back with a new lineup of celebrities embarking on the all-star masterclass.
Six celebrities will be mentored by some of the world’s biggest musical theater superstars, including Elaine Page OBE and Samantha Barks.
Here’s everything you need to know about the new All Stars musical.
What All Stars Musical is about:
Hosted by John Barrowman, All Stars Musical sees celebrities face the ultimate musical masterclass, before a performance at the end of the show.
Celebrities will be equipped for their performances with the wisdom of some world-class theater artists, as well as training from West End choreographers and vocal coaches.
Each celebrity will be accompanied by a live ensemble and orchestra to make their performances spectacular.
Which musicals will appear in this episode?
The musicals featured will range from traditional to contemporary performances.
Viewers can expect to hear songs from Frozen, Les Miserables, 42nd Street and Hamilton.
Elaine Page OBE, Samantha Barks, Trevor Dion Nicholas (Hamilton & Aladdin) and host John Barrowman MBE will open the show with a performance of one of the most popular musicals of all time, Grease.
Viewers can also look forward to a special West End 35th anniversary performance from the Phantom of the Opera stars.
What celebrities perform?
Six celebrities have signed up to try the All Star Musicals challenge.
ITV News and Good Morning Britain’s Alex Beresford is the first celebrity to join the lineup.
Beresford told ITV “There’s a fine line between panic and excitement, but I can’t wait to challenge myself and experience the thrill of performing a musical number in front of a crowd.”
Joining Beresford on the celebrity list is actress Jacqueline Jossa.
Jossa played Lauren Branning on the BBC soap opera Eastenders for eight years.
The actress is known for stepping out of her comfort zone after winning Jungle Queen on the 2019 season of I’m A Celebrity.
Wildlife presenter Michaela Strachan is also testing her musical prowess.
Strachan presents BBC nature watch programs seasonally on BBC One, including Springwatch and Autumnwatch.
The presenter told ITV how excited she was to be on the show, saying: “As a wildlife presenter, I don’t often get the chance to swap walking shoes and gear. outdoors for something shiny!”
Coronation Street actress Lisa George will also perform on All Stars Musical.
The actress has played Beth Tinker on the ITV soap since 1997 and also came fifth in the 2020 series of Dancing on Ice.
The fifth celebrity to join the line-up is actor Colin Salmon.
Salmon is known for playing Charles Robinson in three of the James Bond films, including Tomorrow Never Dies in 1997.
Rugby star Danny Care is the latest celebrity to flex his musical muscles.
Care plays for Harlequins as a premier and played for England for 10 years between 2008 and 2018.
The rugby player took to Twitter to tease fans about his upcoming performance, saying “Yeah… still happening.” next to a photo of him in his costume.
Who are the host and celebrity mentors?
The show’s host is British television personality John Barrowman MBE.
Barrowman is a British-American actor, author, presenter, singer and comic book writer.
He is best known for his roles in Doctor Who and Torchwood, but has also served as a judge on ITV’s Dancing on Ice, as well as facing the I’m A Celebrity bushtucker trials.
The celebrities are mentored by three world-class musical artists.
Elaine Page OBE is a singer and actress who notably won the Laurence Olivier Award for Performance of the Year for her role as Eva Perón in the first production of Evita by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
The actress has also performed in musicals such as Cats and Anything Goes, as well as releasing a number of solo and compilation albums of her work.
Joining Page in the mentorship cast is actress Samantha Barks.
Barks starred as Eponine in the 2010 staging of Les Miserables where she was selected to reprise her role in the 2012 film adaptation.
The actress currently stars as Ice Queen Elsa in the stage adaptation of Disney’s Frozen.
The show’s latest mentor is Trevor Dion Nicholas.
Nicholas has already starred as the Genie in the musical adaptation of Aladdin with a recording of the piece due out this year.
The actor is currently starring in the London production of the hit musical Hamilton where he plays US President George Washington.

All Stars Musical returns to ITV on Sunday April 3, 2022.
The show starts at 7.30pm and will be available on ITV Hub after it airs.
