Decorate musical maracas at Wheaton Arts

MILLVILLE – The maraca is a key percussion instrument in Latin and world music, often made of dried gourds decorated with seeds or stones inside.

The Wheaton Arts & Cultural Center invites participants, ages 12 and up, to decorate two musical maracas during a Mayan painting workshop from 2-4 p.m. on November 13.

The cost is $44.

All skill levels are welcome. The workshop is limited to eight people.

Vineland Environmental Commission Seeks Volunteers

VINELAND – The City of Vineland Environmental Commission is looking for volunteers to help with tree mulching, weeding and other maintenance at 9 a.m. Nov. 13 at Sgt. Dominick Pilla School at 3133 S. Lincoln Ave.

John Pedersen is the coordinator. Minors will need a parent/guardian to check them in upon arrival.

Participants should wear appropriate clothing and footwear and work gloves, if available.

Reservations, including preferred method of contact, email or phone, should be sent to Diane Amico at [email protected] so plans can be made for supplies and gloves and also to provide updates regarding changes due to weather conditions.

Support a local business and the Vineland Soup Kitchen

VINELAND – Vineland Soup Kitchen is sponsoring a chicken platter fundraiser with Joe’s Poultry.

Platters are $11 and include half a roast chicken, potato salad, coleslaw, applesauce, a roll and butter.

Tickets expire on January 31.

Tickets can be purchased through Paypal @vinelandsoupkitchen or by sending a check payable to Vineland Soup Kitchen and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: PO Box 89, Vineland, NJ 08362.

Tickets will be mailed upon receipt of payment.

New session of group exercise classes offered at the YMCA

VINELAND – The late fall session of group exercise classes has begun at the YMCA Cumberland Cape Atlantic.

Current members and members of the community aged 15 and over are welcome to participate in these programs. Classes continue until December 18.

Classes are available Monday through Saturday and typically meet once or twice a week. The first starts at 5:45 a.m. and the last ends at 8:30 p.m. Registration is in progress.

The list includes these new programs: Cardio and Strength, Circuit Training for Beginners, Intro to the Fitness Center, Pilates Fusion, Sonic Spin, Spin and Stretch, and Tabata Shred.

Other classes available include Zumba, yoga, and strength training. Virtual options are available for some classes.

The YMCA is located at 1159 E. Landis Ave.
