Roald Dahl is coming to Netflix. The streamer’s most expensive deal to date sees him adapt the author’s beloved works for children, and the first is Matilda.

When can I watch the musical film Matilda online?

It will still be some time before the movie is available online. In the UK, there’s currently no release date for the film’s Netflix debut, but it will be available in the US and around the world in December (more details below).

That doesn’t mean you can’t watch it from this side of the pond, though, as the musical hits theaters in November.

Will the film Matilda be released in cinemas?

Yes, the film will be released in theaters. In the UK, Matilda the Musical by Roald Dhal will arrive in cinemas on November 25after its premiere at the BFI London Film Festival.

In the United States, it will premiere in select theaters on December 9 before its worldwide debut on Netflix on December 25.

It’s unclear at this point if the film will also be available to watch on Christmas Day in the UK.
