New musical SUFFS heads to audiences

World premiere of SUFFS musical begins March 10 Here They Come, Here They Come MEET THE CAST OF A MUSIC EVENT 100 YEARS IN CREATION World premiere of SUFFS musical Book, music and lyrics by Shaina Taub Choreography by Raja Feather Kelly Directed by Leigh Silverman March 10 to April 24 SUFFS brings to life a complicated chapter in the ongoing battle for suffrage: America’s women’s suffrage movement. In the seven years leading up to the passage of the Nineteenth Amendment in 1920, a group of passionate suffragists – the “Suffs” as they called themselves – took to the streets, devising tactics of protest that transformed the country. They risked their lives clashing with the president, the public and each other. A gripping story of brilliant and flawed women working against and across generational, racial and class divides, this epic new musical boldly explores the victories and failures of a fight for equality that is still far from complete. ended.
