Ah, Vienna! Known as the City of Music! The historic home of composers like Mozart and Beethoven. A city where you can hear a world-class opera or symphony every night of the week. A city where the streets come alive to the sound of violins! Pianos! Clarinets! And vegetables!?

Today we are launching our Sense of place: Vienna series with one of the most unconventional bands in town – the Vegetable Orchestra. Yes, they play veg – but you might be surprised by their work, as their audiences often are. Join me and a member of Vienna’s Vegetable Orchestra as we go shopping at a local instrument market!

Thanks to Susanna Gartmayer from the Vegetable Orchestra, and thanks to Austrian Music Export – especially Arianna Fleur Alfreds – for connecting us with artists and cool corners of the Viennese music scene. Thanks also to Coffee of the world Lead Producer Kimberly Junod for her work on this session.
