As the season of the San Diego Symphony opens on August 6, culinary delights will complement the sound of music at the new Rady Shell at Jacobs Park in downtown San Diego.
Named Shell Provisions, the culinary dish will feature chef Richard Blais, Urban Kitchen Group, Biga, Lola55 and Achilles Coffee Roasters.
“Our goal with The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park is not only to provide San Diego residents and visitors with an unforgettable musical experience, but also an exceptional cultural experience that reflects our city,” said Martha Gilmer, CEO of San Diego Symphony, in a press release. “The Shell Provisions showcases San Diego cuisine while supporting local businesses. “

Blais By the Bay, Blais Boxes and Urban Kitchen Picnic Boxes are available for pre-order. Selections from Lola55, Biga, Urban Kitchen Group as well as other Prebys Plaza vendors will be available for self-order at a kiosk.
Customers can also pre-order or order themselves through The Rady Shell app. The app also contains access to digital tickets, the venue’s concert schedule, and full information about the new venue.
No outside food or drink will be permitted other than factory sealed water bottles.
Guests seated in the Marina and San Diego Row sections will have a variety of table-top dining options, including seafood, flatiron steak, “arroz con pollo” roast chicken, and vegan whole-wheat fusilli pasta.
Blais Boxes’ selections include Hawaiian Pulled Pork Sandwich, Roasted Vegetable Wrap, ‘The Cupboard’ deli-themed box, chef-selected vegan option and more. These are available for concert goers in the Marina, San Diego, and Parkside sections.

Named after San Diego philanthropist Conrad Prebys, the Prebys Plaza Dining Pavilion and Market will serve as a hub for the food and drink offerings available to all guests at the Rady Shell in Jacobs Park.
This pavilion and outdoor dining room will be home to many local partners offering order and takeout selections. Dishes offered in the pavilion and market will also include pizzas, tacos and sandwiches.
Everywhere and next to Prebys Plaza, several carts will give customers even more options. Local establishments offering cart service include Marketplace Grille, which offers an assortment of hummus, wraps and desserts.
Kitchens For Good will also have a cart with a selection of soups and breads. Minocqua Popcorn will operate a cart offering buttery popcorn and kettle corn.
There will be several full bars throughout the venue, with locations varying depending on the concert or event. These bars feature premium spirits, wine, local craft beers from AleSmith, Saint Archer, and Stone Brewing, as well as canned cocktails Cutwater, the official canned cocktail of the San Diego Symphony.
A wide variety of wines by the bottle will be available and non-alcoholic options include soft drinks and water.
The inaugural season of the Rady Shell, which features music from classical to rock, from R&B to Broadway, begins Friday August 6 with musical director Rafael Payare conducting the symphony at the world premiere of Mason Bates’ Soundcheck in C major .

- Friday August 6: Opening night and annual Gala with guest artists Ryan “Speedo” Green, Jean-Yves Thibaudet and Alisa Weilerstein
- Saturday August 7: “The Best of Broadway”, starring Megan Hilty, Norm Lewis, Kelli O’Hara and Adrienne Warren, with the San Diego Symphony, conducted by Rob Fisher.
- Sunday August 8: Gladys Knight, with Naturally 7
A few tickets are available for opening night at Shell, 200 Marina Park Way, ranging from $ 184 to $ 72.
Concerts presented throughout the season through November 14 include Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson, Police co-founder Stewart Copeland, Jason Mraz, Bobby McFerrin, Sergio Mendez, Smokey Robinson and the Indigo Girls.

The Rady Shell is the first permanent outdoor venue in the 100-year history of the San Diego Symphony, designed to host more than 100 concerts and events throughout the year. The project was developed in partnership with the Unified Port of San Diego with 96% of the $ 85 million cost raised privately by the symphony.
