SEBRING — Sebring McKinley students will present “Schoolhouse Rock Live! Junior. » musical Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Sebring McKinley Jr./Sr. Lycée amphitheatre.
The production is based on the Emmy Award-winning Saturday morning educational cartoon series “School rock”. Students will perform choreographed renditions of memorable songs including “Just a bill” and “Conjunction Junction” as the musical follows a young teacher who discovers how to engage students through imagination and music.
Sebring McKinley students in grades seven through ten take the stage to perform classic songs in the school production. Seven students play the role of Tom and parts of his consciousness as he prepares for his first day in his teaching career. Eleven of their peers accompany the students on stage as an ensemble.
The props were created by art classes at both Sebring McKinley and United Local Schools. Students in the United Local Schools Carpentry Shop class also built the TV used. Props and set materials were used in United’s production of the show before heading to the Sebring McKinley set for this weekend’s production.
Tickets will be available at the door. Admission for students and seniors is $6 per person. Adult admission is $7 per person. Admission for veterans is free.
