World Music Day was first celebrated in 1982 at the solstice in France. The French Minister of Art and Culture at the time, Jack Lange and Maurice Fleuret, launched the Fête de la Musique in Paris. Fleuret, who played a crucial role in initiating a day to celebrate music, was a French composer, music journalist, festival organizer and radio producer. And since then, the music has become very popular in various countries of the world.
